Miriam Britos (born April 5, 1974, in Artigas, Uruguay) began performing as a
child, first stepping onstage at seven and spending her early years in
festivals, events, and local contests before entering a conservatory at 13 and
starting professional studio work in tropical music at 14. She later spent 13
years with Grupo Mogambo, the band heard on the 1996 album Explosiva, a release
that local bio material credits with going gold. In the early 2000s she launched
Miriam Britos y su Banda, the project that became the center of her live career
