Mrs. Miller
Elva Ruby Connes Miller, known professionally as Mrs. Miller, was born on
October 5, 1907, in Joplin, Missouri. She gained prominence in the 1960s for her
distinctive renditions of popular songs. Initially pursuing music as a hobby,
Miller produced several records of classical, gospel, and children's songs. Her
breakthrough came when arranger Fred Bock encouraged her to record more modern
songs, leading to her discovery by radio disc jockey Gary Owens in 1960.
Miller was signed to Capitol Records in 1965 by producer Lex de Azevedo. Her
