Julie Dawson (vocalist and rhythm guitarist), Áindle O'Beirn (former bassist,
who left in 2022) and Fiachra Parslow (drums) formed Galway indie-poppers NewDad
in secondary school in 2018. After appointing Sean O'Dowd as bassist, the newly
minted Irish quartet introduced themselves to the public with a string of
singles in 2020: "How," "Swimming," "Cry," "Blue," and viral hit "I Don't
Recognise You." They cemented their bruised dream-pop sound on 2021's EP Waves,
