Ngọc Lan, born Maria Lê Thanh Lan on 28 December 1956 in Nha Trang, Vietnam, was
a Vietnamese‑American pop singer who rose to prominence after moving to the
United States in 1980. She began her career in California in 1982 and gained
recognition with covers of French classics such as "Mon amie la rose" and "Joe
le taxi". Her debut album Biển Mộng (1988) was followed by L’amour/Tinh ta
(1988) and Tình Phai (1989), establishing her as a leading figure in the
