Nico van der Meel is a Dutch tenor born in 1956 in The Hague. He made his
professional debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra during the 1987/1988 season
and recorded Bach's St John Passion under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken.
From 1989 to 1996, van der Meel toured and recorded Bach's Mass in B minor and
St Matthew Passion. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable
conductors including Nikolaus Harnoncourt, John Eliot Gardiner, Gustav
