Mónica Rodríguez Díaz, known professionally as Nika, was born in Torrejón de
Ardoz, Madrid, on 11 December 1979. She began studying ballet at age three
before taking up guitar and piano, and rose to prominence as a contestant on the
second season of Operación Triunfo in 2002. Her debut single "Trampa de Cristal"
and the hit "Ser yo" preceded her Gold-certified debut album, Quién dijo que era
el fin (2003), which included the self-penned "Se acaba el corazón." After
leaving Vale Music, she released Desde Madrid (2007) through Idemm Musica. Since
2012, she has fronted the band MÜNI...
