The British post-rock band Oceansize formed in Manchester, England, in 1998.
Vocalist Mike Vennart, guitarist Steve Durose, guitarist/keyboardist Richard
"Gambler" Ingram, drummer Mark Heron, and bassist Jon Ellis met while studying
music in college, ultimately deciding to form a band after attending an
inspirational Mogwai concert. After releasing the EPs Amputee (1999) and A Very
Still Movement (2001), the band signed with Beggars Banquet Records. Their debut
album Effloresce was released in 2003, followed by Everyone into Position in
