Paloalto, formed in Los Angeles, California, was fronted by James Grundler.
Grundler had previously been in The Din Pedals before signing with Rick Rubin’s
American Recordings. The group’s first single, “Sonny”, appeared in 2000,
followed by the self‑titled debut album Paloalto the same year, establishing a
foothold in the United States alternative rock scene. In 2003, the band released
Heroes and Villains, which reached number 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart,
featuring the track “Breathe In” that appeared on The O.C. and the film Hellboy.
