Paulo Lira de Oliveira, known professionally as Paulo Diniz, was born on January
24, 1940, in Pesqueira, Brazil. He started his career as a journalist at 14 and
later moved to Recife for various roles. In 1964, he relocated to Rio de Janeiro
and began composing music more frequently. His first recording, "O Chorão," was
released in 1966 and became a national success. In 1970, Diniz composed "Quero
Voltar Pra Bahia" with Odibar, which topped the charts nationwide and became an
