Pedro Laurenz, born on October 10, 1902, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was an
accomplished bandoneon player and composer. He initially studied violin but
later took up the bandoneón under the influence of his older brothers. By 1917,
he had moved to Montevideo and began his professional career performing with
pianist Luis Casanovas at Café Au Bon Jour. In 1925, Laurenz joined Julio De
Caro's sextet, where he formed a notable duo with Pedro Maffia. He later became
