Peter Madsen, born 19 July 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin, is a jazz pianist who
began classical piano at eight and double bass at ten, before shifting to jazz
at thirteen. After completing a music education degree at the University of
Wisconsin‑Eau Claire, he moved to New York City in 1980, where a touring
opportunity with Stan Getz marked his breakthrough. As a leader, Madsen released
Snuggling Snakes in 1993, followed by Peter & Peter. Darkness Pursues the
