Phantasm was an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles. The supergroup
included notable members such as early Metallica bassist Ron McGovney and Hirax
singer Katon W. De Pena. Phantasm was formed in 1986 when De Pena convinced
McGovney to return to music after his departure from Metallica. The band
featured young guitarist Rodney Nicholson and played fast thrash metal with
hardcore punk influences. They toured with notable acts like Nuclear Assault,
Possessed, Dark Angel, Uniform Choice, Dag Nasty, and the Plasmatics. Internal
