Philip Harper
Philip Harper is an American jazz trumpeter born on May 10, 1965, in Baltimore,
Maryland. He was raised in Atlanta, and studied music under Jackie McLean at the
University of Hartford Hartt School. Harper began his professional career
performing with the ensemble the Jazz Messengers and the Mingus Big Band. He
signed with the label Verve Records and released his debut studio recording
Harper Brothers (1988) with his brother Winard Harper. His recording career
