Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub is an avant-garde pop and independent band from
Germany founded in 1985. Singer and guitarist Phillip Boa is the head and
namesake of the band. Their debut album Philister was released in 1985. Both
this and its successor Aristocracie (1986) saw the band reach number 1 in the
German indie charts. With their third album Copperfield, Phillip Boa and the
Voodooclub entered the German album charts for the first time in 1988 at number
47. This marked the beginning of a successful period for the band. The album
