Piero Ciampi was an Italian singer-songwriter and poet born on September 28,
1934, in Livorno. During the Second World War, his family evacuated to the
countryside near Pisa following the bombings of the city. He began his career by
forming a musical trio with his brothers Roberto and Paolo. In 1957, Ciampi
moved to Paris where he developed a musical style interpreted with a hoarse and
cavernous voice. He became known in Parisian cultural circles by the nickname
