An emblematic progressive rock band, Pink Floyd debuted in 1967 with the album
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, the only one to feature its composer and singer
Syd Barrett (1946-2006) in its entirety. Dismissed the following year, he left
his place as solo guitarist to David Gilmour, while bassist Roger Waters took on
the role of leader. The band is completed by keyboardist Rick Wright (1943-2008)
and drummer Nick Mason. The band's second album A Saucerful of Secrets (1968)
and the soundtrack to the film More (1969) were followed by the experimental
studio and live double album Um...
