Puya
Puya is a heavy metal band from San Juan, Puerto Rico, formed in 1991 as Whisker
Biscuit. Adding vocalist Sergio Curbelo in 1992, they moved to Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, adopting the name Puya in 1994. They achieved international success by
fusing jazz, salsa, and heavy metal. Their album Puya was released under the
Noiz Boiz label in 1995. After signing with MCA, they released Fundamental
(1999), which received critical acclaim and led to a spot on Ozzfest's second
stage alongside Slipknot. In 2000, their song "Tírale" was featured in the
soundtrack of the movie Heavy Metal 2000...
