Batsogile Lovederia "Rebecca" Malope, born on June 30, 1968, in Lekazi,
Mpumalanga, South Africa, is a gospel singer. As a child, she sang hymns in her
local church and later joined a gospel group, which led her to Johannesburg. Her
musical career began in 1984, and she entered the Shell Road to Fame television
contest in 1985. In 1987, Malope won the contest with "Shine On" (1987),
