Reijo Toivo Taipale, born March 9, 1940, in Miehikkälä, Finland, was a Finnish
pop and tango singer whose recording career spanned more than five decades.
After moving to Helsinki in 1960, he was discovered by Jaakko Salo and made his
recording debut in 1962 with "Aila" and "Yön hetket". His breakthrough came
later that year with Unto Mononen's "Satumaa", which established him as one of
Finland's leading tango vocalists. Other notable recordings include "Tähdet
meren yllä", "Tango Humiko", "Sateen tango", and "Onnen maa". Taipale received
