Rezső Seress

Spitzer Rezső, also known as Rezső Seress, born on November 3, 1899, in
Budapest, Hungary, was a pianist and composer. He started performing at the
Kispipa restaurant. Seress composed "Szomorú Vasárnap" ("Gloomy Sunday"), known
for its association with suicides. Despite controversy, "Gloomy Sunday" became a
cultural milestone, banned in Hungary and America but popularized
internationally. Seress' life was marked by personal tragedies and persecution
