Richard Leo Tognetti, born in Canberra, Australia, is a musician, violinist and
composer. He began his violin studies with Harold Brissenden, William Primrose,
and Hiroko. At 11, he was admitted to the Sydney Conservatorium High School. In
1980, Tognetti won the National Youth Concerto Competition in Brisbane. He later
pursued post-graduate studies at the Bern Conservatory with Igor Ozim. Upon
returning to Australia in 1989, he was appointed leader and artistic director of
