Ronaldo Bastos Ribeiro, known as Ronaldo Bastos, was born on January 21, 1948,
in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a composer and record producer, he began
his career after meeting Milton Nascimento, with whom he composed several
classic songs including "Cais", "Cravo e Canela", and "Fé Cega Faca Amolada". In
the late 1960s, Bastos co-founded the Clube da Esquina movement alongside Milton
Nascimento, Fernando Brant, and Márcio Borges. The group's self-titled album
Clube da Esquina (1972) is considered one of Brazil’s greatest musical works.
