Ronnie Stephenson
Ronnie Stephenson, born Ronald Stephenson on January 26, 1937, in Sunderland,
England, was a British jazz drummer. He took up drums at age 14 and began
playing with semi-professional bands soon after. Stephenson became a prominent
figure on the British jazz scene in the 1960s, notably as the resident house
drummer at Ronnie Scott's Club from 1964 to 1966. In July 1966, he formed the
Ronnie Stephenson Big Band and recorded Drum Spectacular (1966) with Kenny Clare
