Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra is a symphony orchestra in Stockholm that
was founded in 1902 under the name Stockholm Concert Association Orchestra and
became a permanent ensemble in 1914. Initially led by principal conductor Georg
Schnéevoigt from 1915 to 1924. In 1937, Radiotjänst began utilizing the
orchestra for broadcasts. The ensemble was renamed the Stockholm Philharmonic
Orchestra in 1957 and acquired its current name with royal patronage in 1992.
