Russell Means
Russell Charles Means, also known as Russell Means, born on November 10, 1939,
in Porcupine, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, was an Oglala Lakota activist for
the rights of Native Americans, libertarian political activist, actor, musician,
and writer. He was raised in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and later moved
to San Francisco with his family. He received his diploma from San Leandro High
School in 1958. Means' involvement in music began as part of his broader
