Sandefjord Jentekor, a Norwegian girls choir founded in 1956 by Sverre Valen,
achieved early success winning their class in the 1969 BBC competition Let the
Peoples Sing and securing fifteen victories in NRK's national youth choir
competitions. The choir performed across Europe in venues like Cologne Cathedral
and Notre-Dame de Paris, and in 1976 toured the USA, culminating in a
performance at Carnegie Hall. Valen conducted until 1997, followed by Jan Helge
Trøen and later Vesta Zabulioniene as part of the World Festival Choir
