Sangeeta Shankar, born on August 12, 1965 in Varanasi, India, is an Indian
classical violinist known for her performances of Hindustani classical music and
fusion genres. She began her musical journey at the age of 13, accompanying her
mother N. Rajam, and gave her debut solo performance at 16. Shankar is renowned
for her use of the gayaki ang technique, which mimics the human voice on the
violin. Her first album, Sensitive Strains Of Violin, was released in 1989.
