Shoukichi Kina, born 喜納昌吉 on June 10, 1948 in Koza, Okinawa, Japan, is a singer
and politician. He gained prominence as part of the Okinawan folk rock scene in
the 1970s and 1980s with his band Champloose. Kina's first major hit was "Haisai
Ojisan" ("Hey, old man"), written during high school but released in 1972. Their
debut album 喜納昌吉&チャンプルーズ (Shoukichi Kina & Champloose) was released in 1977 and
