Shriekback
Formed in London in 1981, Shriekback is a British band evolving on the borders
of post-punk, new wave, experimental funk and tribal ambient. Barry Andrews
(ex-keyboardist with XTC), Dave Allen (former bassist with Gang of Four) and
Carl Marsh (guitar, vocals) are the trio behind the project, a trio already
firmly rooted in the British avant-garde. Their music, as cerebral as it is
physical, blends deep bass lines, hypnotic percussion, synthetic strings and
cryptic lyrics, as evidenced by the single "My Spine Is the Bass-Line" (1982)
