Song Dongye – born in Beijing, China on November 10, 1987 – is a controversial
folk singer songwriter. He achieved success for several years in China, but had
his career derailed in 2021 by a five-year-old drug bust and he was banned from
radio play, having been classified as a "bad artist" by the State Administration
of Radio, Film and Television of China. He began his career as an indie artist
in 2009, releasing several singles that year including “Catch That Fat Man,”
