SPORT
Sport was a German rock band founded in Hamburg in 1996 by Felix Müller. The
trio included Martin Boeters on drums and Christian Smukal on bass. Their first
release was the EP Alles in Ordnung in 1997. Sport gained recognition with their
debut album These Rooms Are Made for Waiting in 2001, followed by Aufstieg und
Fall der Gruppe Sport in 2006 and Unter den Wolken in 2008. The band's final
studio album, Aus der Asche, aus dem Staub, was released in 2012. The live album
Ein Ende – Live 2012 was released in 2021. Smukal passed away on July 7, 2022,
at the age of 52.
