Steve Morse Band
Guitarist and songwriter Steve Morse – born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 28, 1954 –
first came to prominence as founder of instrumental rock band The Dixie Dregs.
The band formed in 1970 and went through several names – including Dixie Grit
and Rock Ensemble II – before settling on The Dixie Dregs. The group released
their debut album, Free Fall, in 1977, and by 1981’s Unsung Heroes album, they
changed their name to The Dregs. The group split in 1983, and lead guitarist
Steve Morse joined forces with bassist Jerry Peek and drummer Doug Morgan and
