Svenska Akademien, a Swedish reggae band from Landskrona, was formed in 1999 by
Carl-Martin Vikingsson, Simon Vikokel, and Kristoffer "Risto" Hellman. Ivan
Olausson-Klatil later joined the group. Svenska Akademien released their first
EP, Snapphaneklanen, in the early 2000s. Hellman left the group before the
release of their debut album, Med anledning av, in 2002. Leia Gärtner joined the
band after performing with them at a Stockholm carnival and contributed to Med
anledning av. The band won a Swedish Hip Hop Award for "Evig envig" (later
