Sxip Shirey
Gene "Sxip" Shirey is an American electric-acoustic composer, performer, and
storyteller. He studied physics and folk guitar at Ohio University and relocated
to New York City in the late 1980s. His first solo release, Sombule, was
released in 2006. Sonic New York (2010) and A Bottle of Whiskey and a Handful of
Bees (2017) followed. Notable tracks include the duet "In Awe Of The City
Skyline" with Aimee Curl. Shirey performed at Joe’s Pub and was a featured
presenter at TED. His work was featured on NPR, Huffington Post, Sky TV, and
scored films including A Trip to the Moon.
