The Commitments
The Commitments are a fictional Irish soul and blues band created by author
Roddy Doyle in his 1987 novel The Commitments, which was later adapted into a
critically acclaimed 1991 film directed by Alan Parker. Though originally
fictional, the band became a cultural phenomenon and later transitioned into a
real performing act, continuing to tour and record music inspired by the film’s
