The Comsat Angels, an alternative rock and post-punk band from Sheffield,
England, were active from 1978 to 1995. Named after a short story by James
Graham Ballard, the band released their debut single "Red Planet" in 1979 under
Junta Records. This led to a contract with Polydor Records for three albums:
Waiting for a Miracle (1980), which included the notable song "Independence
Day", Sleep No More (1981), and Fiction (1982). Due to trademark issues in the
United States, they were forced to perform under the name The C.S. Angels for
