The Honeycombs, a British band founded in 1963 in north London, consisted of
Denis D'Ell on lead vocals and harmonica, Martin Murray on rhythm guitar, Alan
Ward on lead guitar, John Lantree on bass guitar, and Anne "Honey" Lantree on
drums. The group initially performed under the name the Sheratons before being
renamed by record producer Joe Meek. Their breakthrough came with the release of
"Have I the Right?" in June 1964, which reached Number 1 in the UK and became an
instant hit. The song was produced by Meek at his apartment studio and featured
