on September 13, 1911. He reached wider visibility as the mandolinist and
vocalist for the duo The Monroe Brothers, which he established with his brother
Charlie Monroe. The musicians reached professional recognition for a musical
style characterized by fast instrumental solos and high-pitched vocal harmonies.
