The Radiants were an American doo-wop and R&B group, formed in Chicago,
Illinois, in 1960. The group's members first crossed paths while singing in the
youth choir of Greater Harvest Baptist Church. Maurice McAlister led the group,
who initially performed both his self-penned gospel and secular tunes. Seeking a
record deal, they shifted focus to secular music after labels showed little
interest in gospel groups. Their first single, "Father Knows Best" b/w "One Day
I'll Show You", was produced by Billy Davis and released on Chess Records in
