The Sandpipers, an American easy listening trio formed in 1965, consisted of
founding members Jim Brady, Mike Piano, and Richard Shoff. The group originated
from the Mitchell Boys Choir and initially performed as the Grads before
changing their name to avoid confusion with another popular band. Their
breakthrough came when they signed with A&M Records and released "Guantanamera",
a cover version of the Cuban anthem that became a transatlantic top 10 hit in
