The Springfields, a British folk-pop vocal trio, formed in 1960 when Mary
"Dusty" O'Brien joined her brother Dion O'Brien and Tim Feild. The group
initially performed as the Kensington Squares before changing their name to The
Springfields. Dusty Springfield took on the role of lead vocalist, while Tom
Springfield handled songwriting and arrangements. Their first single "Dear John"
was released in 1961 but failed to chart. However, they achieved UK success with
subsequent releases such as "Breakaway" (Number 31) and their Christmas hit
