The Time
American funk and dance-pop ensemble The Time, was founded in 1981 by Prince.
The band originated from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and initially featured Morris
Day as the lead singer alongside Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Prince formed The
Time to explore his musical roots in funk and R&B while experimenting with other
genres in his solo career. The band's debut album, The Time, was released on
July 29, 1981, marking their first significant release. Their second album, What
