The Trammps
The Trammps are an American disco and soul band formed in 1972 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, featuring lead vocalist Jimmy Ellis, drummer Earl Young, and
brothers Stanley Wade and Harold “Doc” Wade. Their breakthrough came with a 1972
cover of "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart", a top‑20 R&B hit that showcased
Earl Young’s bass voice. The group followed with "Love Epidemic" on Buddah
Records in 1973, then signed to Atlantic Records. In 1975 they released The
