The Volumes
The Volumes were an American R&B vocal group formed in 1960 in Detroit,
Michigan. The group consisted of members Ed Union, Elijah Davis, Larry Wright,
Joe Travillion, Ernest Newson, Herb Hamlett, and Clarence Berger Jr. Their
breakthrough came with the release of their single "I Love You" on Chex Records
in 1962. This track, co-written by bass Ernest Newson and manager Willie Ewing,
blended doo-wop and Latin beats, reaching Number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100
