Thomas Friz, born on March 5, 1950, in Stuttgart, Germany, was a musician. He
began singing as a child and was a member of the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben,
performing works such as Johann Sebastian Bach's Matthäus-Passion. Friz started
his musical career in 1971 with solo tours across Germany, Austria, and
Switzerland. From 1974 to 1986, he collaborated with Erich Schmeckenbecher under
the name Zupfgeigenhansel, winning the Deutsche Phono-Akademie's Artist of the
