Hwang Young Min, known professionally as Tim, was born on 23 December 1981 in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raised in a Christian family with his father serving
as a local pastor, he was surrounded by music from an early age, picking up
instruments such as the saxophone and piano. He began his musical journey
performing in school and church settings before being discovered by a talent
agency. Prior to his singing career, he hosted a documentary series on MTV Korea
