Tõnu Kaljuste is an Estonian conductor known for his work with choral ensembles.
He sang in his father’s choirs and graduated from the Tallinn Music High School
in 1971, later completing studies at the Tallinn Conservatory and postgraduate
work at the Leningrad Conservatory. In 1974, he took over leadership of the
Ellerhein Chamber Choir, which he later developed into the Estonian Philharmonic
Chamber Choir in 1981 with state support. After Estonia’s independence in 1991,
