Toussaint McCall was born in Delhi, Louisiana on March 26, 1939 is an American
singer and organist, one of twelve children born to Rev. D. L. McCall, a pastor
at the Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church. After graduating from high school,
McCall attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His musical
career began with local performances, eventually leading to a recording contract
with Shreveport, Louisiana-based Ronn Records. His breakthrough came with
"Nothing Takes the Place of You", which reached number 5 on the US R&B chart and
was issued on Ronn Records in 1967. ...
