Vertical Horizon, an American alternative rock band, were formed in 1991 in Washington, D.C., by Matt Scannell and Keith Kane while they were students at Georgetown University. The duo released their debut album, There and Back Again, in 1992 after relocating to Boston. They toured extensively as a duo before returning to the Washington, D.C. area to record their second album, Running on Ice, in 1995.
