Viento de Agua, a bomba and plena band, was formed in New York City in 1997 by Puerto Rican musicians Tito Matos, Ricardo Pons, and Alberto Toro and consisted of various musicians playing instruments such as bass, drums, and a powerful brass section. The group's debut album, De Puerto Rico al Mundo, released on November 10, 1998, was recognized as one of the top ten Latin recordings of the year by the New York Times.
